F-1 Student Visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows foreigners to get education in the United States.
The duration of this visa will correspond to the period a student is enrolled in school. F-1 visa holders are allowed change the school or university without leaving the country, as well as travel freely within the United States.
Speaking about J-1, this visa type is used to make a cultural exchange between the J-1 Visa holder and the U.S. organization that invites the visitor (schools, businesses, a variety of organizations and institutions). Individuals may arrive to the United States as students, scholars, teachers, professors, research assistants, medical graduates, or international visitors as they participate in a program of studies, training, research, or a cultural enrichment program.
Students may work on campus for the time they are enrolled in school. To start work, they should apply for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) to gain work experience in their field of study while being a full-time student.

The J-1 sponsor is the agency that approves the applicant to take part in the J-1 program.
International students can also be great student employees. But this matter should be discovered properly, as international student employment rules may vary depending on visa type and is restricted by the U.S. federal government. For example, international students who have F1 or J1 visas can lose visa status if they apply for work without authorization. They are to have a maximum 20 work hours per week work on campus. Even if a student has multiple jobs, together it should not be more than 20 hours a week. An F1 or J1 student who works more than 20 hours a week on campus when school is in session will lose their F1 or J1 status.
F1/J1 international students must complete the Form I-9 within 3 days of starting employment.
