Medical Health Examination for United States Immigrant Visa. Includes List of Approved Doctors
Individuals seeking to adjust their immigration status in the United States or apply for an immigrant visa outside the country must undergo a medical examination. It is not possible to obtain an immigrant visa or adjust status without first undergoing a medical examination. Individuals who are legal residents but who are changing their status to United States citizens may have to retake this medical exam. Only doctors approved by the USCIS can perform the medical exam. The cost of the exam must be paid directly to the doctor. Proof of treatment or follow-up exams must be provided before the application for temporary or permanent residence is approved. Children may require additional immunizations. Medical exams are generally valid for 12 months. It is advisable not to delay taking your medical test as it must be completed before you can adjust your status or obtain an immigrant visa.
